Position Summary:

This position will report to the Manager, Bussing and Hardstand Operations.

Under the daily guidance of the Lead Hand, Airport Bussing, this position is responsible for conducting Bussing operations including the deployment and operation of all GSE to support live off gate operations, and for maintaining surfaces in related bussing operational areas.

The primary focus of this role will be to conduct Bussing Operations.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Acts as an ambassador for Toronto Pearson
  • Provides bussing service for all hardstand
  • Providing deployment and operation of GSE (Airstairs, Meditlifts, AVI Ramps) for live off gate flights
  • Assists the travelling public with mobility issues
  • Completes all required training for GTAA operated busses and support equipment
  • Conducts daily circle checks and inspections of assigned busses and GSE and completes vehicle logbook
  • Cleans, fuels and ensures GTAA operated busses and support equipment (medilift, airstairs, aviramps etc.) are operationally ready
  • Provides bus services for GTAA sponsored tours and events, irrops response and other contingencies as required
  • Manually clears obstructions such as snow and ice from areas at the bussing facility (main doors public and airside), and other airside locations that may impede passengers flow using snow removal equipment and hand tools
  • Provides information support as able (directions, guidance to lounges etc.)
  • Greets and welcomes passengers to the airport and offers a high level of service as part of their travelling experience
  • Conducts walk about inspections and picks up FOD (foreign object debris) and litter around the bus routes and bus bay locations and other locations as assigned
  • Acts as first level response to incidents onboard the bus or within the bus bays, such as CPR, Defib and other first aid required to ensure passenger safety and coordination of response through Airport Operations Control
  • Demonstrates to new employees the proper method of operating bussing and support equipment, and conducts AVOP observation as assigned
  • Conducts daily inspections, maintenance programs and cleaning on all mobile equipment and vehicles being utilized, including maintaining cleanliness of assigned facilities such as the Bussing Facility and Break Rooms
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Minimum High School Diploma or equivalent education
  • Demonstrated bus driving experience
  • Must be able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position
  • Must possess a "DA" class Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP) or successfully obtain one within thirty (30) days of appointment to the position
  • Minimum CZ Provincial Driver's License required
  • Must be able to maintain a CZ Provincial Drivers' License with appropriate medical
  • Ability to obtain Defib certification
  • Ability to obtain and retain CPR Certification
  • Ability to obtain Persons with Disabilities (PWD) Certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to write and speak English fluently
  • Multi‐tasking is required in order to listen to multiple radios while operating a bus on the airfield and groundside
  • Knowledge of Incident Management (IMS) procedures
  • Able to work outside in all types of weather
  • Ability to lift and walk while holding 30lbs, bending and twisting to secure the wheelchair ramp for mobility assist passengers and assist PWD
  • Knowledge of the operation, mechanics, inspection and regular maintenance of busses and GSE equipment
  • Knowledge of equipment operation such as GPU, PCA, Medilift, AVI Ramps, Cobus and Nova Bus operation
  • Knowledge of terminal(s), airfield and groundside layout
  • Knowledge of maneuvering on airfield
  • Knowledge of spills containment procedures
  • Knowledge of airline operations, understanding of what is domestic, transborder, and originating airports to ensure arrival passengers are delivered to the correct bus bays in compliance with the Canadi
