This position is a senior member of the IT Operations team, responsible for technical leadership and key domain expertise for the Disaster Recovery Program.

This includes the co-ordination, developing, maintaining, and testing the
LCBO's Disaster Recovery Plan.

The role will support all activities necessary to enable the
LCBO to recover critical systems as identified in the Business Continuity Plan.

This will include leading 3rd party vendors and internal IT and business teams in the development and implementation of the Disaster Recovery Plan along with the on-going sustainment and maintenance of the DRP.

This position will also manage a team of disaster recovery professionals maintaining and continuously improving the DR program.

This position is hybrid #LI-Hybrid

Working closely with key stakeholders, outsourced service providers, and technology vendors.

The role combines day-to-day IT Disaster Recovery operations oversight as well as ITDR strategic planning to support
LCBO's overall resiliency strategy.

This role is critical as any infrastructure operational downtime can lead to store delivery interruptions, product shortages at retail stores and retail store operation interruptions which would impact revenue, customer service and organizational reputation.

About the Role

Enterprise Disaster Recovery function - (30%)

  • Provides DR leadership, guidance, advice, and domain expertise, making recommendations to senior IT, business professionals and other engineers/developers.
  • Manage the enterprisewide disaster recovery plan and maintain viability of the DR plan and processes
  • This role maintains the technical architecture of the disaster recovery plan ensuring all technical domain architecture
  • Explains Disaster Recovery concepts and strategies, and introduces and adopts new technologies, theories, and methods.
  • Encourage technical SMEs to consider Disaster Recovery when developing technical solutions.
  • Ensures alignment to IT Strategy and Industry Best Practices, as well as establishes frameworks and methodologies for approaching assignments
  • Oversee the work of all internal IT teams, including operations and business technology, with the planning and execution of disaster recover technology and processes
Strategy & Planning - (25%)

  • Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for Disaster Recovery technology
  • Accountable for ensuring
    LCBO's Disaster Recovery Plan is current and maintained
  • Manage and oversee the partnership with the architecture team to develop and maintain Disaster Recovery infrastructure architecture documentation
  • Develop and deliver business cases for IT Disaster Recovery initiatives as well as supporting peers in other IT groups with their business cases
  • Work with finance and accounting as well as PMO on IT financial forecasting.
  • Stay current on emerging technology trends as they pertain to Disaster Recovery and establish a technology evaluation rhythm based on upcoming solution needs driven by business and initiatives.
  • Be solution focused when working with both Internal IT associates as well as business associates.
Leadership & People Development (20%)

  • Provides ongoing training, mentorship and support to business units and promotes corporate awareness of DRP Program
  • Establishes and monitors expectations of performance for 3rd party partners to ensure they are continually meeting
    LCBO's support requirements and SLAs.
  • Provides direction, guidance and coaching to the department team, drives resource and capacity management to support projects and distribution of assignments. Leads the development of training and succession plans and seeks input from team members to enhance technical, analytical, and business capability across the team
  • Attend professional meetings, read literature, and participate in training or other educational offerings to keep abreast of new developments and technologies related to disaster recovery and business continuity
  • Monitor emerging technologies for potential inclusion in the disaster recovery plan
Testing (15%)

  • Project manage the successful planning, execution, and closure of multiple DR Exercise projects throughout the year
  • Ensures that adequate BCPs and DRPs are valid and viable through regular testing and evidence is maintained to provide assurance of resilience for business continuity risks
  • Develops and refines documentation of policies, procedures and standards in support of the DRP
  • Work with IT leaders to document end to end processes and identify critical points of failure
Documentation (10%)

  • Manage design and implementation of DR Documentation system
  • Oversee the development and/or Document DR plans that are properly welldefined for the relevant business process areas, ensuring it is fully documented and reflects current conditions including from an IT
