Scope

Welcome to Civic Facilities

You will assist trades staff in the semi-skilled manual tasks involving considerable physical effort and active performance of a variety of minor construction and maintenance projects within City buildings and facilities.

You must have knowledge of the various Building Codes and other applicable codes; hand or power tools, materials, equipment, and techniques used in building construction and maintenance; good knowledge of Surrey's policies, procedures and standards; and working knowledge of applicable safety regulations.


Responsibilities:


Assisting in the installation, service and maintenance of equipment and fixtures such as maintenance of climate control equipment, steam boilers, and plumbing fixtures.

Responding to requests for minor repairs to electrical, carpentry, machinery, office equipment and furniture, modifies work stations, installs conduits for computer terminals; read blueprints, drawings and plans.

Using a variety of hand and power tools.
Driving City vehicle to and from job sites.
Performing other job-related duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

Completed grade 12, supplemented by three relevant technical courses in a building trade from a recognized post-secondary vocational institution.
Previous building maintenance, construction experience, and training.
A valid and unrestricted driver's license and a safe driving record.
Must obtain and maintain a valid level of RCMP Security Clearance.
Conditions of Employment

This position requires completion of an RCMP Reliability Security Clearance.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.
