Position Title
- Purchasing Specialist
Position Summary - Are you a purchasing professional with experience in public procurement? Are you looking for a unique opportunity to work parttime hours in your professional field? The Procurement team in Finance welcomes you to join them as a Purchasing Specialist in a term position until June 30, 202
- The Purchasing Specialist works collaboratively within the Procure to Pay team and across schools and divisions to provide expert advice and service in all aspects of procurement in support of institutional operations.
Position Responsibilities - Using effective communication, planning and procurement skills, the Purchasing Specialist is primarily responsible for:
- Assisting the schools and departments in sourcing and procuring goods and services and advising on the appropriate purchasing method,
- Ensuring all purchasing activities are conducted in compliance with policy, laws and legislation,
- Planning and managing all aspects and stages of competitive bidding, from inception to contract negotiation and postaward contract management,
- Drafting and finalizing contracts resulting from the RFXs, using appropriate contract terms and conditions,
- Processing purchase requisitions, purchase orders, change orders and order cancellations, as required,
- Documenting and maintaining related procurement records.
Required Qualifications
- Two (2) years of postsecondary training in Business Administration or Supply Chain Management
- Member of the Supply Chain Management Association
- Minimum two (2) years related experience, preferably in public procurement
- Demonstrated experience with all aspects of competitive procurement process
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of organization procurement policies, procedures, procurement law, trade agreements and applicable legislation
- Experience negotiating contracts and agreements
- Strong consultative and collaborative skills
Preferred Qualifications
- SCMP or Professional Public Buyer designation are considered an asset
- Experience working in a postsecondary institution would be an asset
Salary or Hourly?
- Hourly
Salary - Starting at $34.08 per hour
Benefits and Compensation Information - An additional 15% of the hourly rate in lieu of vacation, statutory holidays and benefits.
