Key Responsibilities:


  • Curriculum Development, Delivery and Evaluation_
  • Develop a twoweek (50hour) training curriculum specifically designed to help youth accessing the EIA program to obtain the necessary skills and knowledge needed to not only secure, but also maintain meaningful work and help them remain active participants in our provincial workforce.
  • Conduct research and collaborate with community and employer partners, and other professionals to develop quality curricula and learning resources.
  • Establish feasible timeframes to achieve the goals and objectives outlined in the curriculum.
  • Identify appropriate and applicable learning principles to guide curriculum development.
  • Deliver lesson plans on scheduled class days in an engaging and wellcommunicated manner.
  • Support various learning styles by providing several strategies for consuming the same content.
  • Research platforms and identify action items to transfer training curriculum to an online platform.
  • Develop a range of digital resources to optimize classroom learning and ensure ongoing learning outside of formal settings.
  • Monitor participant progress and make relevant changes to curriculum.
  • Collaborate with third party evaluation consultant to develop and implement evaluation methods and tools to track project data and outcomes.
  • Contract graphic designer to develop all project materials.
  • Student Support and Case Management_
  • Provide ongoing participant case management.
  • Monitor online participant progress and provide individualized supports as needed.
  • Refer active program participants to YES Manitoba Employment Facilitators for ongoing case management.
  • Complete regular follow up activities with participants from all cohorts.
  • Track participants ability to secure and maintain work.
  • Complete project quarterly and final reporting.
  • Implement strategies to gain participant feedback.
  • Understand and incorporate relevant labour market trends and address barriers youth may face to finding and maintaining employment.
  • Community Outreach_
  • Collaborate with internal staff to develop and implement promotional materials.
  • Develop and implement an outreach strategy to recruit eligible participants for in person and online training cohorts.
  • Identify and engage with community and employer partners with values that align with project goals to contribute to program development.
  • Participate in community presentations/workshops to promote the BEST Program
The BEST Program Specialist will possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Certificate, degree, or diploma in project management, curriculum development, education, social work, career development or counseling. A combination of education and previous experience will be considered.
  • Experience in a leadership role, instructor capacity or facilitator role are considered to be strong assets.
  • Ability to prepare and provide clear, concise and complete verbal and written information at a level appropriate to the audience.
  • Traumainformed practice.
  • Adaptable, organized, attentive to detail; and effective time management skills.
  • Approachable, comfortable, and selfaware when communicating with youth while maintaining a professional approach both in a oneonone and group setting. Strong understanding and ability to recognize and appreciate the diversity of cultures, ideas and opinions.
  • Selfmotivated, selfreliant with an ability to work independently yet an enthusiastic team player with proven capacity to show initiative and take responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of the barriers youth face transitioning to employment or further education an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Office 365; excellent computer and keyboarding skills.
  • YES Manitoba requires all staff to be fully vaccinated against COVID19


This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), and Child & Adult Abuse Registry as conditions of employment.

A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.

Only original copies of the CRC, CARC, and AARC will be considered acceptable for the purposes of this policy.


YES Manitoba offices are located on Treaty One territory, on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dene, and Dakota Peoples, and the Homeland of the Metis Nation.
