    About this Opportunity
    Under the direction of the Director, IGA/Title & Rights, the Intergovernmental Researcher, IGA/Title & Rights is responsible for conducting guided and independent research on a range of issues related to various negotiations and self-government. This position will assist in a variety of initiatives, and will act as a liaison between governments and will assist or take the lead in various negotiations as required with the provincial, federal and other First Nation governments.

  • Work closely with the IGA Director and team members to establish strategic management objectives and outcomes consistent with the vision for negotiations and the implementation of self-government.
  • Provide research, operational support and participation in negotiations including the preparation and organization and facilitation of meetings with the provincial, federal and other First Nation governments.
  • Provide research, collect and analyse and draft reports using a variety of research methodologies to ensure the interests of WFN are represented during negotiations.
  • Monitor emerging trends and policy developments at various levels of government and assesses their implications for agreements and policies.
  • Maintain liaison with representatives from governmental and First Nations bodies during negotiations, gathering stakeholder input and briefing the team accordingly.
  • Support the development of program budgets, ensuring timely submission, and compliance with funding agreements.
  • Prepare budget submissions, monitor budgets, and provide reports to the Director, IGA/Title & Rights.
    Must Haves:
  • Bachelor's degree in political science, public administrations, international relations, Indigenous studies, social sciences, policy development or a related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience managing various projects of substantial complexity.
  • Experience in governmental administration, legal affairs, and the development, implementation, and analysis of policies is preferred
  • Experience working with First Nation Governance considered and asset
  • Criminal Record Check with results acceptable to WFN

    The salary range for this position is $64,757 - $97,136
