About the Role:


Reporting
The Human Resources Generalist reports directly to the Manager, Human Resources and Payroll Services.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Advise and consult with employees and management on employee relations matters including:
  • Recruitment procedures
  • Progressive discipline process
  • Organizational development
  • Performance management processes
  • Terminations
  • Advise frontline managers and employees on HR policies; assist departments with personnel inquiries.
  • Research changes in federal regulations, analyzing their effect on the company, monitoring regulatory compliance, and communicating findings report to the Manager, Human Resources and Payroll Services.
  • Actively participate in business units' strategy and operations discussions, proactively identifying people/talent strategies and solutions.
  • Guide and assist in the development of policies and practices that comply with Avmax's culture.
  • Counsel on benefits programs as related to workers' compensation, shortterm disability, longterm disability and other areas specific to Avmax. Escalate inquiries to the appropriate department (i.e. Safety, Payroll) if required.
  • Support managers through progressive discipline cases, provide recommendations on corrective action, problem resolution, or work improvements on major issues.
  • Assist the Manager, Human Resources and Payroll Services in the development and improvement upon existing recruitment strategies; facilitate fullcycle recruitment including advertising, screening, interviewing, and making hiring recommendations.
  • Assist in the hiring process and employment law/legal issues.
  • Develop and implement and/or deliver HRrelated training as required.
  • Develop and deploy internal employee surveys; compile and present results.
  • Collect and present HRrelated metrics.
  • Provide technical guidance to HR Coordinator/Administrator in matters of professional practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Certificate, diploma, or degree accreditation in Human Resources, or relevant experience; CPHR designation is an asset.
  • Must be able to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to identify priorities, organize, and manage time effectively.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Proven competency in the operation of key office software and productivity tools such as the MS Office suite of tools with working knowledge of an HRIS.
  • Attention to detail and focus on producing a quality project in a timely manner.
  • Service and results oriented; innovative and proactive approach to initiatives and projects while having the opportunity to learn and develop core competencies.
  • Possess knowledge of contemporary human resources principles, practices, and processes.
  • Demonstrate ability to perform multiple tasks in a complex operating environment.
  • Good understanding/working knowledge of HR policies/procedures, benefits, and employee relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to stay well organized and meet specific deadlines.
  • Desire for continuous career improvement and will be provided career development opportunities.

Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in HR is required.
  • Experience in payroll is an asset.
  • Experience working for a federally regulated business is an asset.
