About the Role:


You will contribute by:


  • Daily multiplatform reporting and delivery of news, sports and community events.
  • Reporting live from the scene of breaking news.
  • Writing and producing content with multiple deadlines.
  • Conducting interviews and sharing audio with other platforms.
  • Tell good, peoplecentered stories using sound.
  • Regularly communicate story ideas and information with colleagues on all platforms.
  • Develop and maintain news contacts for interviews and information.
  • Understand and adhere to Global News' Journalistic Principles and Practices.
  • Represent our brands at public functions.
  • Available to work weekdays, evenings, early mornings, and weekends.
  • Embrace and demonstrate Corus' five values.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Skills and experience you bring:


  • Postsecondary education (or equivalent experience) in Journalism, Broadcasting, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and storytelling skills, with an understanding of how to write for different platforms.
  • Ability to go live with strong presentation skills and clarity.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clear driving record
  • Passion for broadcast and online journalism and Canadian affairs. You wake up in the middle of the night with good ideas.
  • Ability to meet strict short deadlines and work well under pressure.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing technology and workflows.
  • A positive attitude and a desire to collaborate in a multiplatform newsroom.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
  • Motivated, selfstarter, independent, resultsoriented and professional.
