Description

Responsibilities

Payroll:

  • Act as point of contact for Canadian team members related to Payroll inquiries and HRIS systems.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency, including providing direction with respect to payroll policies and procedures, taxation issues and legislation. Stays current on changing federal/provincial legislation.
  • Troubleshoot, research and provide recommendations to resolve payroll issues.
  • Manage the time & attendance system for Canada, including new company implementations, reporting and employee/manager system support.
  • Assist in the management of T4 and T2200 process for Canadian employees.
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and provincial laws, regulations and reporting requirements relating to salaries, wages, overtime, benefit plans and workers' compensation.
  • Maintain supporting documents for internal/external auditors and respond accurately, thoroughly, and timely to requests for data.
  • Serve as Canadian liaison with Payroll US for training and questions. Provide updates to team on upcoming payroll items that may drive calls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing and reporting requirements.
  • Payroll US backup: Provide payroll services through the preparation and processing of biweekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees across multiple provinces.

Payroll HRIS:

  • Serves as technical resource providing HR systems support, including training, system access, and issue troubleshooting and resolution, and system data integrity.
  • Manage HRIS ticketing for employee payroll changes for retro processing to ensure all necessary adjustments are properly recorded and paid.
  • Manage the Employee Time Off process and reporting for all Canadian employees.
  • Ensure the time management system has accurately captured hourly employee's times.
  • Audit transactions entered in the HRIS including new hires, employee changes and terminations.
  • Prepare enduser documentation, testing, or training materials as needed for HR systems.
  • Generates and executes custom reports and dashboards from HR Systems
  • Support implementation of HR System upgrades or updates through system support and analysis of time, pay and benefits configuration, including functionality, design review and end to end user testing.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.

Education & Experience:


  • Secondary Education with degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
  • 23 years' experience in supporting Canada payroll environment within large corporations at a regional and/or global level.
  • Multiprovince payroll processing experience is a great asset.
  • Bilingualism (French/English) preferred.
  • Experience in Canadian payroll legislative requirements
  • Experience with UKG Pro and/or Time & Attendance systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of payroll processes, procedures, controls, regulations, and compliance related to all different areas across HR.
