PROGRAM COORDINATOR, JAYS CARE FOUNDATION

TERM: 1 Year Contract, February 2023- February 2024


COMPENSATION:
$22.00 an hour - 35 hours per week


REPORTS TO:
Program Manager, Jays Care Foundation


LOCATION:
Hybrid model

- primarily in office at the Rogers Centre (Toronto, ON) minimum 2 days per week in addition to working remotely from home and at off-site event locations. Subject to change.

RESPONSIBILITIES & PROGRAMS OF FOCUS:


JAMES BAY GIRLS AT BAT - (50% of time)


James Bay Girls At Bat is a program for self-identified Indigenous females that promotes hope and resilience while building protective factors in support of life promotion.

The goal of the program is to help youth find that place where they flourish despite the challenges they may face.

The program has been noted by Indigenous Leaders, mental health workers and front-line staff as a program that provides the supports required to not only prevent tragedy, but also promote healing, hope and positive futures.


Program Facilitation

  • Co
- design, plan and facilitate programming that is trauma-informed and helps to enhance connections, promote physical and mental well-being, and tools that increase important life skills among participants.

  • Recruit, build rapport and engage with youth, cultural leaders, cultural facilitators, community partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist in building strong relationships and rapport with First Nations and community members.
  • Travel frequently to Indigenous communities and lead dynamic workshops, events and programs for children and youth using bestinclass facilitation tactics.

Program Administration and Communication

  • Regularly contribute to and grow the impact of James Bay Girls at Bat's online network of youth and volunteers.
  • Organize the ordering and shipment of program materials and resources.
  • Creates staff, volunteer and participant resources or communication tools to refer to regarding program events and initiatives.
  • Record and track and assess program participation
  • Plans and coordinates event logistics such as travel, accommodation, venue bookings and scheduling for program retreats and community visits.
  • Perform solution focused problemsolving skills to help navigate northern Ontario travel and accommodations.

L.I.T. GIRLS - (25% of time)
L.I.T.

Girls is a 5-week virtual Zoom experience for self-identified girls who could benefit from exclusive leadership training in a safe and welcoming environment.

Girls registered for the program meet weekly to attend online sessions focused on discovering their strengths, exploring leadership opportunities, and making meaningful connections with like-minded youth.

L.I.T. Girls is offered 5 times each year to more than 300 youth across the country.


Facilitation and Program Support

  • Facilitate fun, engaging and inclusive virtual programming that promotes positive peer connections and belonging
  • Support the review of existing program curriculums and offer creative insights to enhance the quality of each program and its content.
  • Support staff trainings and group debriefs for part time staff and ensure they are supported.
  • Support the facilitation external program events (career panels, Youth Advisory, Clubhouse)
  • Support the wider Jays Care programs team with crossdepartmental projects and initiatives as needed.

GRANT SUPPORT - (25% of time)

Administrative skills

  • Support various programs, initiatives and events for Jays Care's Indigenous and Youth Leadership Programs (Bounce Back Initiative, JCF Internship Program)
