We are currently Looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team for 8 weeks in the role of Kitchen Helper as part of the Canada summer job grant program.


Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:


  • Maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment.
  • Washing dishes in accordance to AHS specification.
  • Safely storing or disposing of leftover food.
  • Preparing food service containers for return to caterers.
  • Portioning food for the classrooms.
  • Preparing food to be delivered to classrooms.
  • Deliver food to classrooms.
  • Collecting dishes, utensils, and serving containers from the classrooms after meals.
  • Checking the quality of the food being served through taste tasting.
  • Offering housekeeping, disinfecting support in areas where needed.

Components of the Position:


  • Scrubbing dishes and serving containers
  • Lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs.
  • Safely use and handle sharp materials such as box cutters, can openers and knives
  • Safely handle hot and cold containers
  • Safely lift and carry boxes
  • Push, pull and move rolling racks and carts safely around the kitchen
  • Standing for long periods of time
  • Repetitive tasks and body movement
  • Bending, leaning and reaching
  • The successful role holder will need to have a positive attitude, quick thinking, problem solving and customer service skills and the ability to fulfill competing priorities.

This position is a part of the Canada Summer Jobs Program with funding provided by Service Canada.

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protections has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Legally entitled to work according to relevant provincial legislation and regulations (international students on a work/study permit are not eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs Program).
  • Youth awaiting a refugee status ruling, as well as those who hold a temporary visitor visa, youth visa or work visa are ineligible.

Qualifications:


  • Relevant Experience (If any).
- "Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check" (mandatory).

  • Valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment (mandatory).

Work Schedule:

Working Hours: 35 hours/ week, Monday - Friday

  • Start Date: Tuesday, 20th June, 2023
Work Duration: 8 weeks
