Overview:


The Category Insights Analyst will be responsible for understanding consumer behavior, market trends, and competitor activities to provide insights and recommendations to drive business strategies.

They will leverage hindsight (performance metrics through BISSELL's data systems, ROI analysis, etc.), insight (consumer-led data, market trends), and foresight (macro trends, category performance and trajectories, etc.), turning data into actionable recommendations.

The role will help guide cross-functional teams within the organization make fact-based business decisions based on BISSELL's strategic priorities. Analytical projects will vary depending on business needs.


Responsibilities:


  • Analyzing sales data, consumer demographics, market trends, and competitive intelligence to identify opportunities within specific product categories.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) such as sales performance, market share, and profitability of products within the category to assess effectiveness of strategies and initiatives.
  • Creating reports, presentations, and dashboards to communicate insights and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborating with crossfunctional teams to develop and implement categoryspecific strategies aimed at driving growth, improving market share, and increasing profitability.
  • Gathering and analyzing information on competitor products, pricing strategies, promotional activities, and market positioning to inform strategic decisionmaking.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of promotional campaigns, pricing strategies, and merchandising efforts within the category to optimize marketing spend and maximize ROI.
  • Oversee and address critical data issues related to quality, consistency, and thoroughness to ensure accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Set quality standards for data and outcomes, aiding in the establishment of principles dictating the types of data and their organization methods.
  • Performs adhoc reporting and analyses as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or deemed necessary.

Required Experience / Education:

Degree minimum: Bachelor's Degree

Specific concentration: Preferably in a quantitative field like Statistics, Mathematics, Market Research, or Analytics

Experience level:

  • 23 years of analytics or quantitative experience extracting meaningful insights from different data sets. Experience with IoT data preferred but not required.
  • Experience using business intelligence or data visualization/interface tools, e.g. Domo, Tableau, Power BI, to tell a story with the data.
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, and Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, complex formulas, VLOOKUPs).
  • Knowledge of database design concepts and data structures (relational, file system, data frames, etc.)
