Position Summary


The Dining Room Attendant (DRA) is a front line member of the Food Services team and is primarily responsible for providing consistently high levels of quality customer service to residents and guests by providing prompt and efficient meal service.

DRA's will provide breakfast, lunch and dinner meal service by ensuring that the dining room is in clean, sanitized, tables are set and that food is served in accordance to our set guidelines and task lists.


Responsibilities

Dining Room Service_

  • Prepare the dining room for meal service by setting tables, preparing condiments and hot beverages and ensuring all equipment is ready for use
  • Provide meal service support to residents by assisting with describing menu options, taking order and serving beverages and food to residents as defined by Heartland Housing Foundation's (HHF) guidelines and standards
  • Greet residents upon arrival and complete a wellness check or followup with housekeepers to complete a wellness check for residents who were absent for the meal service
  • Monitor and replenish food amounts during meals and snack times throughout the day
  • Upon the completion of the meal service the DRA is responsible for ensuring the dining room including, tables, chairs, equipment, floors, etc. are cleaned, sanitized and polished and ready for the next meal service
  • Cleaning and sorting of dishes, utensils, silverware, pots, pans etc. by handwashing and/or using the dishwasher, if required as part of your task list
  • Provide assistance to other members of the dining room and kitchen as required

  • Be an active member of the Food Services team by communicating daily with the Chef, Cook and/or Baker regarding daytoday food service operations, food preparation, efficiencies, faulty equipment, requirement of tools and supplies needed within the kitchen and dining room areas

Health, Safety and Environmental Stewardship_

  • Support and abide by all safety management systems and promote a safety culture throughout the organization
  • Respond to emergency situations as they arise and provide appropriate followup and documentation as required
  • Adhere to all manufacturer guidelines and safe work practices when using equipment
  • Use Personal Protective Equipment and follow universal precautions
  • Participate in worksite inspections, health & safety meetings and committees as required
  • Contribute to the organization's commitment to improving its impact on the environment through daytoday operations and seeking innovative ways to be a greener organization
Undertake the performance of other assigned duties, including those specified on Job Task Lists, as required


Requirements:


  • High School Diploma is preferred
  • One (1) year of previous experience in a customer service and/or food service environment is preferred
  • Strong desire to work in senior's housing
  • Completion of a current and acceptable criminal records check for the vulnerable sector as required by the Protection for Persons in Care Act and the Accommodation Standards and Licensing Act is mandatory
  • Attainment of a Food Safety Certificate is required
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and internet usage is preferred
  • First Aid and CPR certification may be required

Hours

  • 4:00pm 8:00pm
  • 4 days on 4 days off rotation schedule, including weekends and holidays
