Your role

This is a temporary and hybrid role for 1 year.


CBC News is looking for an Analyst to join our CBC Network News Finance team at the Toronto Broadcast Centre.

We are a 24-7 breaking news organization, with reach across television, radio, online, and mobile platforms.


The Analyst will be a key member of the CBC News Finance team and be responsible for providing operational finance support to News programming.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, this position will be responsible for handling all financial aspects (cost tracking, budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reporting) for our and other related groups.


Key Tasks:

  • Prepare, coordinate, track, and reconcile expenditures.
  • Provide support and guidance with purchasing, eplaza ordering, and employee reimbursements.
  • Prepare and track budgets/cost estimates for special projects and programming initiatives.
  • Prepare adhoc labour and monthly financial reports for review by Senior Manager, and for discussion with Managing Editors.
  • Prepare both standard and nonstandard freelance contracts and renewals in Livelink in accordance with the various collective agreements (including CMG, unaffiliated, WGC, ACTRA, CFM).
  • Prepare monthend labour accruals for staff OT & TOIL and casual timecards.
  • Assist with month end and year end closing procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
  • Accounting Diploma or Degree and/or relevant experience is required.
  • Active Student of CPA Accounting program or Designation is preferred.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible related experience.
  • Selfmotivated and able to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills and decisionmaking capabilities
  • Ability to set priorities and balance competing business needs within budgetary restrictions and reporting deadlines.
  • Business partnering approach. An open and direct communication style, good listening skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experienced working in a diverse and inclusive environment.
