The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans


Our main responsibilities are:

  • Funding supports for municipalities
  • A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment
  • Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders
  • Provincewide support for access to public library services for Albertans
  • Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province's three Special Areas
  • Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal


Working in the Accreditation and Certification unit (A&C) of the Compliance & Assurance branch of the Warranty Certification and Policy Division, this position will provide services that include the development and maintenance of examination materials to support Alberta firefighter certifications.

This position is also responsible for supporting A&C operations, communications with stakeholders, and the administration of the learning management system.


Role Responsibilities:


  • Support the implementation and the ongoing administration of the A&C learning management system (LMS).
  • Draft, support, and maintain examination materials for the NFPA standards included in the A&C certification program.
  • Support A&C activities required for accreditation with ProBoard and IFSAC.
  • Support and provide communications with A&C partners (e.g., evaluators, instructors, GOA staff and programs).
  • Actively participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications:


Minimum recruitment standards outline the minimum education and experience required for appointment to a job classification.

  • Or equivalent experience as described below.

Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Assets

  • Knowledge of learning management systems and/or online examination systems.
  • Experience in writing, evaluation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of adult education and evaluation principles.

Skills:


  • A high degree of attention to details (focus).
  • Strong communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Experience working on education/assessment materials, particularly those designed for jobrelated training or professional certification.
  • Basic project management skills to enable the position to plan, prioritize and manage assigned tasks.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and to work both independently and as part of a team.
