Position Summary:


Reporting to the Shop Lead, the incumbent provides mechanical and fabrication trades support services to applied research and development projects in the shop and in the field.


Duties and Responsibilities:


The following are the general duties of these positions but are not inclusive of all the detailed tasks that may be required.

Duties may vary and some may not be applicable.

  • Provide trades support for projects such as fabrication, machining, welding, sheet metal work, equipment repair and operation, jig building, carpentry, painting, machine assembly, boiler operations, and other project support
  • Assist with fabrication, design and development of prototype machines and test equipment including troubleshooting
  • Operation and repair of machinery in the lab and field
  • Providing trades guidance to other support staff
  • Willing to enter a trades apprenticeship program if no certificate is held

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Advanced knowledge of shop equipment use
  • General knowledge blueprint and work instruction reading/interpretation
  • Agricultural machinery operation is desirable

Credentials and Experience:


  • 5 years experience with shop tools, equipment and fabrication

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Humboldt, SK: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
