As the Manager, Governance and Board Services, you will contribute to the overall governance framework of the Medicus Pension Plan by producing and coordinating governance operations and materials for the Administrative Board.


Is this role right for you? In this role you will:

  • Contribute to the plan management team for a national multi-employer pension plan
  • Provide support to the Administrative Board and its committees, as well as ensure the successful delivery of meetings
  • Coordinate the production of governancerelated and other Board material, including collaboration with stakeholders across the Medicus Pension Plan to assess impacts of emerging trends and influence risk mitigation actions
  • Ensure the maintenance of Plan records and compliance with Board policies and processes, governing documents, and applicable laws by developing internal controls for efficient monitoring and reporting on the governance of the Medicus Pension Plan, including Administrative Board activities, and effectively manage issues related to governance risk, remediation, process, and internal control optimization
  • Deliver pertinent information on governance and other related matters on a timely basis to stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with various internal plan management teams and with external stakeholders, including service providers such as consultants and auditors
  • Continuously improve reporting efficiency and effectiveness using best practice processes and automation
  • Build and maintain a network for intelligence gathering related to new industry trends, policy, and regulatory changes, social, economic, environmental and technology factors
  • Champion a highperformance environment and implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, develops, and motivates their team by fostering an inclusive work environment, communicating vision/values/business strategy, and managing succession and development planning for the team
  • Create an environment in which his/her team pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas
  • Identify issues, develop, and implement recommendations, and exercise mature judgment in all dealings including internal audiences, as well as with external bodies such as auditors, regulatory authorities, agencies, and examiners

The Must Haves:


  • 5+ years of experience in a corporate governance setting, including experience directly supporting a Board and/or Board Committees, all while providing recommendations for process and procedure improvements to better serve the Board Directors, as needed
  • University degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a pension plan environment would be a significant asset
  • An understanding of Canadian corporate governance practices and procedures, experience with Canadian pension plan governance preferred.
