We are currently recruiting for a CNC Operator (Wood) to join our London location.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Operate CNC for solid wood machining
- Adjust existing programs to suite new parts or create new programs
- Cut, shape and drill door parts
- Break out & edge glue rough lumber for wood doors and millwork
- Keep working area clean and clear of debris/waste
- Maintain (including preventative maintenance), grease, clean, HOMAG CNC router and inform management of issues immediately if they occur
- Assist with cutting & ripping lumber for moulding or door production when needed
- Other duties as assigned by Mill Manager
REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION & COMPETENCIES:
- College diploma in woodworking technology or equivalent work experience in the field
- Working knowledge of Homag Wood Wop software
- Superior understanding of the execution and proper operation of CNC routing equipment
- Experience running a variety of tools (router bits, drills & other cutters) on a CNC and the knowledge of how they work properly (adjusting feed speeds, cycle time savings, etc)
- Ability to foresee issues or deficiencies in products before they happen to reduce error frequency
- Ability to catch errors in orders or question measurements for products that seem incorrect
- Common wood shop & safety practices including the operation of a variety of woodworking machinery (moulders, shapers, table saws, cnc routers, sanders, edgebanders, clamping (gluing) equipment, etc.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines on a regular basis and maintain a low frequency of error or reject quality product
- Ability to interpret autocad or other technical drawings with accuracy and suggest alternatives when designs are flawed
