About the Department:


Our communications team works closely with functions across the organization to understand the dynamics of the business for optimal communications.

The team is responsible for strategic planning, development, and implementation of all communications, and plays a crucial role in Novo Nordisk's success.


The Role:


To proactively build and protect Novo Nordisk Canada's reputation by creating company and product preference and to engage employees to create and sustain a high-performance organization.


Key Areas of Responsibilities:


Your role as Communications Manager Includes:

  • Serve on product brand teams as the communication expert and lead brand-specific communication strategy and tactics.
  • Lead advertising and public relations agencies, freelance writers, photographers, graphic artists, and vendors of promotional and communication services.
  • Measure effectiveness of communications channels, publications, and programs to meet the specific needs of audiences, evaluate success, and course correct as necessary to improve the impact and sustainability of communication programs and publications.
  • Build meaningful internal communications programs to highlight the work of our product brand teams and programs.
  • Advise and coach Novo Nordisk's spokespeople on communication strategy, key messages, and clear communication in connection with interviews and media events.
  • Manage and conduct media training for Novo Nordisk key spokespeople.
  • Distribution of company announcements and press releases.
  • Oversee the morning media review, monitor media coverage and be responsible for breaking news and crisis management.
  • Manage the online representation of Novo Nordisk on our Canadian social network. Develop a social media strategy, create, and promote content.
  • Develop and deliver clear and concise audiencefirst communications that consider our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) strategy and ensure French language accessibility for all our internal and external audiences.

Education (Minimum Requirements):


  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations or equivalent

Preferred Experience Requirement:


  • Bilingualism (French and English) is preferred
  • Minimum of 5+ years of progressive business experience in corporate communications, public and /or media relations preferably as part of the healthcare communications sector
  • Proven ability to deal with publication/news media and public relations suppliers

Working Condition:


  • Approximately 10% overnight travel
