Why is this role important?

  • The Manager, Enterprise Architecture & Standards has general responsibility for the development, implementation and management of CIHI's integrated enterprise architecture approach in support of CIHI's mandate. This includes various programs of work including enterprise data architecture, enterprise business architecture, cloud architecture, IT portfolio assessment and maintenance, IT standards inventory and applicable compliance processes. This position collaborates closely with other departments in the ITS division as well as business units across CIHI. Additionally, this position has a liaison role with various provincial, territorial, and federal health information initiatives.
  • What you'll do
  • 1. Leads the evolution and operation of the CIHI Enterprise Architecture Program and its components/services. Seamlessly integrates business and IT service strategy with Enterprise Architecture disciplines, domains, and frameworks. Integrates enterprise architecture approach to domain architectures.
  • 2.
Leads and provides expertise to key Enterprise Architecture & Standards initiatives and focus areas, including:

- a. Enterprise Data Architecture including enterprise data model, data governance & management, business glossary, data catalogue, master and reference data management, etc. towards an integrated data architecture.
- b. Business Architecture domain and associated practices.
- c. IT Standards Inventory capturing all of CIHI's IT-related standards.- e. Oversight of Application Portfolio Maintenance program to maintain technical currency.
- f. Evolution of CIHI's development lifecycle and Architecture Gating process.

  • 3. In the role of Sr. Architect, provides architecture expertise to ITS teams.
  • 4. Provides expertise in leveraging Enterprise Architecture approaches in corporate initiatives and projects. 6. Works closely with other IT managers to ensure that CIHI's architecture and infrastructure remains current and appropriate. Collaborates with other CIHI managers to ensure that initiatives across the organization are harmonized, where appropriate.
  • 7. Collaborates with Information Security, Privacy, and business areas to ensure CIHI's Enterprise Architecture approach meets CIHI's legal, regulatory, and compliance requirements, as required.
  • 8. Identifies or leads the identification of emerging needs/opportunities leading towards initiation of appropriate policies, standards, guidelines, initiatives, and projects to ensure that a consistent enterprise architecture framework is applied across CIHI.
  • 9. Leads, motivates, and mentors the team; provides clear direction; effectively delegates and monitors performance results; supports others through change; makes decisions that balance the best interests of the team, the organization and its stakeholders; and leads by example by living CIHI's core values.
  • 10. Works with ITS leadership to plan and coordinate current and planned project activities to ensure appropriate development and use of architecture, and standards resources to projects. Ensure activities are harmonized, as appropriate.
  • 11. Develops and monitors department operational plans and budgets and contributes to the development and monitoring of the branch and ITS strategic and operating plans and budgets.
  • 12. Represents CIHI and supports the activities of provincial and federal health information standards councils, committees and working groups as appropriate.
