Ontario Line South

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc.

and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are to design, build and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package.


Working together as Ontario Transit Group we are currently mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023.

The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A sixkilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
  • Stations:
  • One aboveground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
  • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
  • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown)

What you will undertake:

  • Maintain a record/journal of daily work site activities, safety items, visitors, inspections, including a photo/video record of job progress.
  • Maintain the contract documents, drawings, specifications for project staff and subcontractors.
  • Support various development approvalsincluding Draft Plan of project, Official Plan Amendments, Permitting, Zoning Bylaw Amendments, Minor Variances, Site Plan Agreements, by working with internal project team members, multidisciplined consultant teams and various government authorities
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules,
  • Assist in preparing budgets.
  • Review of invoices, construction payment certificates, proposals, construction contracts, and process for payment.
  • Obtain quotes from vendors and contractors, evaluate them, prepare Bid recap and recommend placing orders.
  • Prepare Change orders, RFQs and RFIs.
  • Assist with preparing Project completion Schedules.
  • Work with and alongside the Project Manager and Supervisor to plan the work sequence, using specifications, drawings and site conditions for effective safetyconscious production.
  • Assist in the coordination of the next day requirements for labour, equipment and ensure supplies are ordered.
  • Complete reports for production, payments and regular tracking.
  • All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.
  • Ensure project cost requirements are met and coding procedures are followed.
  • Liaise with onsite inspectors, owners' representatives, and the public.

What do we ask for?

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Word, Excel) and have a general knowledge of database utilization.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, business, engineering, supply chain management, or equivalent degree
  • At least 5 years' experience in an engineering and/or construction related role
  • Thorough understanding of all areas of procurement, including procurement execution, estimating, expediting, offsite supplier quality, subcontract administration and site purchasing
  • Detailoriented, highly motivated with ability to effectively manage time
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives
