JOB TITLE:
Janitor at Interior Community Services

LOCATION:
Kamloops, BC

VACANCIES:
Two (2)

STATUS:
Full-time

HOURS of WORK:
37.5 hours per week

SCHEDULE:
Monday to Friday, between 3:00-11:00 PM - Flexible availability to work weekends as needed

COMPENSATION:
$24.87 per hour (Grid 3 as per collective agreement)

REPORTS TO:
Manager of Housing

ABOUT THE JOB:

As a Janitor, you will be crucial in preserving the cleanliness and functionality of the buildings and residences, ensuring a positive experience for all who utilize the facilities.

What a Day Looks Like:
Your workdays will be diverse, consisting of routine and varied tasks tailored to the requirements of the facilities. Here's a glimpse of your daily responsibilities:

Clean and Sanitize: Travel to various agency buildings to clean and disinfect areas such as walls, windows, ceilings, floors, carpets, kitchens, and washrooms using manual and power cleaning equipment.
Waste Management: Collect and dispose of refuse, ensuring clean refuse areas and conducting spot clean-ups.
Exterior Maintenance: Perform general upkeep of building exteriors including sweeping, window washing, and snow shoveling.
Rental Housing Upkeep: Prepare rental housing units for move-ins and move-outs.
Event Support: Arrange furniture for functions and meetings, ensuring post-event cleanliness.
Safety and Security: Secure buildings, report maintenance needs, and handle alarms.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Grade 10 or higher education
- Minimum of one month of related experience
- Or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Attention to Detail: Ensure thorough cleanliness and maintenance of all areas.

Time Management: Efficiently complete tasks across multiple locations.

Problem-Solving: Address minor maintenance issues promptly.

Communication: Collaborate effectively with team members and community members.

Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.

Self-Motivation: Work independently and take initiative.

Physical Stamina: Perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods.

Protecting Private Information: Handle sensitive information with discretion.

REQUIREMENTS:

- Valid BC Class 5 Driver's Licence and Safe Driving Record

- Access to a vehicle considered an asset

- Consent to a Criminal Record Check

- Flexible availability for weekend work

- Union membership required

- Existing certification in WHMIS, Mandt, Privacy and Information Sharing, Anti-Bullying, and Harassment is an asset
