Job Description:


AECOM Western Canada is currently seeking a Systems Design Coordinator with proven experience in transit projects, to join our multidisciplinary Western Canada Systems Engineering team and work on delivering an existing and future portfolio of projects.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Produce high-quality Systems drawings such as single line diagrams, schematic diagrams, riser diagrams, cable schedules, floor plans, equipment elevations, and many others in a timely manner in coordination with designers.
  • Set up a systematic back-check review process with designers.
  • Follow project-specific CAD standards, AECOM's Quality Assurance policies, and document management policies.
  • Work with internal stakeholders to setup and promote an effective process to ultimately produce drawings that will be satisfactory to clients in a time-efficient manner accounting for review cycles.
  • Organize drawing production and files to ensure successful Quality audit checks.
  • Lead coordination with multiple designers when producing multi-disciplinary drawings.
  • Lead or participate in the development of a CAD item library for Systems (models and blocks).
  • Lead or participate in 3D design coordination of combined services to identify and resolve clashes of equipment.
  • Lead or participate in multi-disciplinary design coordination using BIM 360.
  • Use ProjectWise to coordinate work-in-progress drawings.
  • Coordinate the production and finalization of design packages at various submission stages.
  • Communicate key information to the Systems design lead such as challenges, schedule risks, effort estimates, and others.
  • Share insights from a CAD perspective to improve for the CAD process within projects and ensure successful delivery.
  • Produce Communications Systems drawings such as fibre optic and IP backbone networks, radio systems, integrated communications systems, passenger information systems, telephony, CCTV, intrusion and access control, SCADA, fire alarm systems, etc.
  • Produce Signalling & Train Control drawings.
  • Produce Power Supply & Distribution drawings such as Traction Power, power distribution, substations, UPS, outdoor lighting, emergency trip system, OCS, etc.
  • Work in coordination with other CAD designers to successfully share workload.
  • Deliver high-performance within project time constraints for the various project design stages from conceptual design to Issued for Construction.
  • Develop 2D and 3D drawings using various design tools such as AutoCAD, Microstation, and Revit.
  • Prepare 3D models of existing site conditions based on data from field scans.

Qualifications:


Minimum Requirements:


  • Electrical or Electronics Engineering Technology Diploma 4 years of relevant experience in CAD for rail and transit projects
  • Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Developed experience in 2D and 3D CAD design for at least one of Communications Systems, Power Supply & Distribution, or Signalling & Train Control
  • Experience with transit systems in Western Canada preferred, experience in Eastern Canada an asset.
  • Strong expertise in AutoCAD, Revit and BIM 360. Microstation experience an asset.
  • Accustomed to operating within a multi-disciplinary and dynamic project structure.
  • Team player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Top-notch oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with limited direct supervision.
  • Able to multitask due to concurrent projects.
  • Works efficiently within tight time constraints.
Additional Information


  • Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
  • Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position typically is $70,000 - $90,000.
