This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $71,557 - $119,269.
Location - This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person at North Campus Edmonton.

Position
The Research Development Officer is part of the Researcher Development and Success team, reporting to the Director (Researchers Development and Success), under the Associate Vice President (Research Development and Services) portfolio in the Office of the Vice President (Research and Innovation).
Specifically, this position will support improved success rates in major research competitions, with a particular focus on increasing the total research revenue awarded to the University of Alberta (UA) researchers from the Tri-council agencies (SSHRC, CIHR, NSERC), Canada Foundation for Innovation, and other national and international funding agencies.
Duties
In collaboration with the Director (Researcher Development and Success) and the Associate Vice-President (Research Development and Services), support the development of processes and resources to strengthen grant proposals and increase success in external funding competitions.
Build partnerships with College Associate Deans (Research) and Faculty Associate/Vice Deans (Research) and researchers in all Faculties and Colleges at the UA to create a support network for research development across disciplines and funding competitions.
Collaborate with Associate Deans (Research), Research Partners, and other senior research administrators from the faculties and colleges to share or jointly develop knowledge, resources, processes, and activities for improving success in external research funding.
Qualifications
- A degree, preferably at a graduate level, in a SSHRC/CIHR/NSERC field is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum five years experience working in a postsecondary research administration environment, and a broad understanding of academic structure and culture
- Experience serving on peer review panels at funding agencies would be a major asset
