Our Team


We are currently seeking a talented and energetic individual to join our team of Human Resources professionals as a Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) to support our Thompson, Manitoba Operations.


The Opportunity
This is an exciting full-time permanent HR Generalist opportunity reporting directly to the Manitoba Operations HR Manager.


The HRBP role partners with the operations to provide creative HR solutions on matters including employee & labour relations, career and succession planning, performance management, compensation, workforce planning, organizational design, etc.

The role is focused on empowering our leaders with the right tools to build our desired culture transformation, driving various change management initiatives, and championing a respectful workplace.


The incumbent will be required to work flexibly onsite in our various Mines & Surface areas and their home-office support locations in Thompson Manitoba.


In this position, you will:


  • Be the primary HR point of contact for a specific client area(s) for all HR related matters
  • Build trusting relationships with the client area(s) while becoming a business ally, a driver and facilitator of change, translating business needs into HR requirements
  • Be a broker of HR services between the client area(s) and HR process owner teams (ex. Payroll)
  • Drive the delivery of HR programs/policies updates to the business as applicable
  • Provide guidance and innovative solutions to leaders including policy interpretation, employee development, disciplinary and performance issues to ensure engagement and compliance
  • Support the grievance management administration process, participate on Joint Committees, provide expert advice on Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) matters
  • Coach and influence leaders by proactively partnering on organizational issues, make recommendations for resolve
  • Identify areas where HR alignment or influence is required, and enlist support from the HR Manager
  • Deliver credible talent management and organizational design support required to meet immediate and future organizational client area(s) needs
  • Support the recruitment process for the client area(s)
  • Share knowledge and experience with other HR Team members
  • Lead or support other HR special projects
  • Lead workplace investigations

About You:


  • An undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Business or Commerce
  • 5+ years' experience in a similar role
  • Professional HR Certification or Masters of Labour Relations is considered an asset
  • Experience in a mining or industrial environment considered an asset
  • Expert knowledge in various local legislations such as the Labour Relations Act, Human Rights Act, and Employment Standards Code
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to exercise appropriate levels of discretion and confidentiality
  • Proven time management and multitasking skills
  • Possess proven conflict resolution skills
  • Previous experience working in a unionized workplace is beneficial
