Job Summary:


Reporting to the Environment Lead, the Workplace Safety Technician will be responsible for evaluating and monitoring health and safety hazards and developing strategies to control risks in accordance with the Workplace Health and Safety Act and corresponding regulations.

This position is also responsible for reviewing and inspecting the workplace to ensure compliance with government regulations.

The incumbent will provide guidance, and support to all levels of the organization for health, safety and wellness as well as helping to foster a culture of safety within the CancerCare.

The incumbent will additionally provide general support for Dept of Environment.


Qualifications:


_Required:
_


  • Post-Secondary education in a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a WSH practitioner
  • Demonstrated experience working with the Workplace Safety & Health Act and Regulation
  • Demonstrated Audit & Risk Assessment experience of all aspects identified within the Workplace Safety & Health Act and Regulation, latest revision
  • Proved experience with the Workplace Health and Safety Committee
  • Experience in incident investigations (serious and nonserious)
  • Demonstrated training experience for all levels
  • Proficient with MS Word/Excel/Outlook
  • WHMIS knowledge
  • Fire Safety knowledge
  • Experience conducting Fire Extinguisher audits, AED audits, safety signage audits, etc.
  • Experience in assessing and reviewing Hazardous Waste legislative requirements
  • Available to travel between all CancerCare facilities
  • Must have satisfactory employment record
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional

  • Working experience with Occupational & Environmental Safety & Health (OESH)
  • Experience in conducting/reviewing Ergonomic assessments
  • Ability to use AutoCAD
  • Ability to speak French

$27.454, $27.824, $29.454, $30.526, $31.684, $32.823
