Description

The Technical Expert is responsible for providing leadership to a team of SW developers working on Embedded Automotive Ethernet Gateway (ECG) used in Ford vehicles all over the world.

This expert creates ECG software architecture, code, unit, and integration tests for Ford's vehicles with a focus on quality and efficiency.

The Software Technical Expert serves in an expert capacity to mentor other software development engineers and ensure compliance with software quality standards.


Position Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of software development experience
  • 2+ years of SW Technical Expert or management experience in an Agile SW development environment
  • 5+ years of experience in development of embedded large scale software development, with emphasis on multithreaded software design on real time OS or linux/QNX.
  • Proven analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with embedded build systems including QNX system builder, open embedded, or equivalent
  • Proficiency with revision control including Git, Subversion, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of multisite software project team experience
  • Mastery of C++ language, GNU tool chain, and QNX, Linux, or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications and skills

  • Masters or PhD degree in appropriate field.
  • Agile Scrum Master certification and practical project experience
  • Knowledge of invehicle network protocols (CAN/LIN/Ethernet)
  • Experience in Cybersecurity
  • Experience in Functional Safety
  • Automotive product development process and quality experience (i.e., A-SPICE, FMEA, etc.) or similar such as ISO, CMMI, TL9000, etc.

Responsibilities:


  • Provide Technical Leadership for embedded software to design, develop and implement software for ECG
  • Manage software quality through code reviews, static/dynamic analysis, rigorous testing, and a persistent focus on test automation
  • Should be comfortable when needed to perform scrum master role and implement Agile practices
  • PI/Sprint planning, velocity tracking, retrospectives, demos and JIRA dashboard management. Working with Product owner to keep the backlog groomed and prioritized.
  • Mentor embedded software developers
  • Create a highly collaborative, motivated team environment and partner with project managers, embedded system engineers, embedded software developers, and embedded software quality assurance engineers daily as well as with key test teams
  • Participate in system design, documentation, and testing to deliver a bestinclass system
  • Ensure quality requirements are met in software design process.
