Position Overview
This position reports to Principal Investigator(s).

This position also works closely with other faculty and Research Coordinators in the unit who are involved with the University of Calgary, inflammatory bowel disease unit.

Work may be repetitive at times.

Work hours may vary when required to reach changing deadlines, workloads and priorities in a dynamic research environment. This position will work for 28-35 hours per week, with flexibility in the schedule.

Position Description

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Maintain optimal data recording practices
  • Flexibility and the ability to refocus to meet deadlines and cope with the dynamic nature of clinical research are key.
  • Able to prioritize tasks to comply with research protocol needs.
  • Data entry while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Assist a team of Investigators and other researchers by providing database support
  • Administrative duties including; organizing and filing of confidential study records and computer technical support
  • Maintain communication with other groups and participate in continuing education
  • Other administrative duties as required

Qualifications / Requirements:


  • Must be registered in fulltime academic studies in an undergraduate or graduate program in communications, health sciences, public policy, international development / relations, sociology, governance, law, or a related field
  • Must return to fulltime studies following summer placement
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations
  • Demonstrated skills in database imputation
  • Maintains Confidentiality of Patient Information and Medical Records
  • Typing certification preferred
  • Strong and effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, verbally and written
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
