Credentials

  • Post-Secondary degree in Engineering or a related discipline in Environmental Sustainability, Water Resources Management or the equivalent in combined education and experience.
  • Class "G" Driver's License in good standing and a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
  • Due to the responsibilities of this position a Criminal Record & Judicial Matters Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Knowledge/Skills Required

  • Progressively responsible experience at a senior supervisory level.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent study to determine leading edge innovations in the field of climate change impacts, environment, and sustainability.
  • Proven experience and ability to conduct research, analyze data, and develop recommendations/solutions to complex climate issues.
  • Manage the delivery of programs, and those involved in a range of initiatives, both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to deal effectively with elected officials and all levels of staff; external government agencies, developers, consultants and the public with the ability to respect confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of budget preparation and management.
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Demonstrated ability to develop business cases, prepare work plans and schedules that align with Council and SLT priorities.
  • Industry expert to lead community engagement, garner support from diverse stakeholders to ensure approved initiatives are implemented.
  • Strong customer service orientation, interpersonal, consultative, negotiation, public relations, project management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to anticipate future climate change mitigation requirements and legislation. Lead in innovation to set out procedures to monitor and evaluate pilot projects.
  • Sound ability to interpret legislative changes and industry best practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation, bylaws, legal proceedings, and the ability to interpret legislation such as Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA), Occupational Health and Safety Act and the Employment Standards Act.
