The Position


The procurement specialist works closely with the procurement manager and its team to provide procurement support with respect to supply chain management tasks.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ability to draft and/or proofread, edit, and factcheck procurement and contract policy and process documents for accuracy and consistency.
  • Work with internal or external groups to ensure that the terms of contractual agreements are written in language that is legally binding and in accordance with the desires of the company.
  • Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they follow company policies and all applicable federal and Provincial regulations.
  • Selfmonitor progress according to the schedule of completion to submit drafts and documents in a timely manner.
  • Strong knowledge of the industry and market conditions.
  • Able to travel to meet vendors and suppliers as necessary
  • Indepth knowledge of procurement regulations, policies, contract documents and legal specifications
  • Proven negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to resolve complaints and concerns, both internal and external.

Qualifications
-
Education
  • Degree or certification in Supply Chain Management an asset
-
Experience - 5+ years of work experience as a Procurement Specialist or similar role (Category Specialist/Manager, Paralegal)
-
Relevant work experience -experience in accounting and job costing, in the construction or project-based industry

  • Clear adherence to company policies and procurement rules and regulations

Key Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of current and legally binding contractual language and terminology
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and create solutions for problems, customer complaints, and company concerns
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral and written communication skills
  • Good organization skills and the ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of negotiation best practices, both inperson and in written form, that considers cultural norms and the company's best interests.

Physical Demand

  • While performing the duties of this job, requirements may include prolonged sitting and standing /or walking.
  • Computer work is required which will involve visual focus on screens and documents.
