The Manager of Horizon is currently seeking a Program Services and Support Worker.

The purpose of the position is to support the Horizon program as a member of the collaborative care team by performing a wide variety of non-clinical tasks and activities including performing program safety and equipment maintenance checks.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Perform tasks that promote program successes on daily basis including completing patient laundry, preparing patient clothing bundles, stripping and/or bed making; restocking and organizing of life skills, kitchens, utility, storage, tub room(s), clinical and treatment room(s)
  • Provide a safe, therapeutic environment by continuously monitoring the working environment and reporting hazardous situations, structural and/or equipment failures, locking and unlocking program doors according to program/hospital policy, assisting with hospital emergency codes, performing contraband checks and searches as assigned
  • Performing equipment maintenance checking of flashlights, checking the temperature of fridges and cleaning of fridges and patient lockers
  • Perform tasks as assigned, for example, identify directed central supply needs, pick up/deliver supplies, pin money, and distribute as directed
  • Performs all work at all times in compliance with all hospital policies and procedures and legislation (Occupational Health &Safety Act, Fire Code, WHMIS, etc.) relevant to health and safety, security (including relational/therapeutic security) and potential risk hazards, and in particular, "duties of the worker" as defined in Section 28 of the OH&S Act.

Requirements/Qualifications:


  • Current CPR certification and First Aid are mandatory
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Mental Health Act, Freedom of Information, Personal Health Information Protection and Privacy Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act in order to ensure confidentiality, and maintain a safe work practice and environment
  • You must meet the requirements of our COVID19 Immunization Policy by providing proof of full vaccination, or a request and receipt of an accommodation under the Ontario Human Rights Code, including a medical exemption
  • Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
  • Demonstrated leadership, conflict resolution, interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Proven written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to adapt readily to change
  • Models and promotes core ethical practice, Waypoint Values (Caring, Respect, Accountability, Innovation), and reflects an optimistic and positive attitude
  • Preference for proficiency in French/English language skills
