Role Responsibilities:


The Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Trade is looking for three strategic leaders with regulatory enforcement and supervisory experience to join Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program Delivery within the Safe, Fair and Healthy Workplaces Division as Manager of Inspections.


Reporting to the Director of Inspections, this position manages the delivery of the OHS compliance programs and provides leadership and direction to a staff of Occupational Health and Safety Officers responsible for enforcement of the OHS legislation.


As a member of the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Program Delivery management team, the incumbent provides expert input into the establishment of regional and branch priorities, goals, and program initiatives including the allocation of resources throughout the region.


At the work site level, this position plans and implements operational programs and improvements in the compliance program and services for the area, encouraging and coordinating innovative input from OHS staff.


The Manager is a key position in linking the Mission, Vision and Objectives of the department to the delivery of compliance services.

The position is required to meet branch business plan goals and objectives and provides input into the development and oversees team implementation of program plans.

  • Ability to monitor staff's work levels, assign work as needed and hold staff accountable to expectations.
  • Exceptional relationshipbuilding and communications skills, including: excellent listening, writing and organizational skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationship and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to deal with clients, the general public, other government agencies and elected, or appointed officials, with a high degree of diplomacy, tact, objectivity, good judgement and professionalism.
  • Has the proven ability to anticipate issues; use problem solving techniques and make timely and reasoned decisions to meet service delivery targets. Ability to deliver presentations to staff, clients and the public.
