Description:


This position involves effectively managing material handling equipment located in multiple facilities within a defined geographic region, employees and contractors through defined processes and systems.

Success criteria include equipment performance (reliability/quality), safety (compliance with regulatory standards, frequency and severity of accidents), costs (equipment, facilities and labor) and successful implementation of continuous improvement projects.


Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with quality, health and safety rules, guidelines and regulations;
Ensure maintenance programs are properly executed in accordance with Labor Canada requirements and legislative rules and regulations.


Develop, manage, inspect and supervise maintenance programs for material handling equipment to ensure availability and reliability, execution of work orders and performance.

Develop tools to evaluate and compare internal and external maintenance costs.

Develop tools to identify investment opportunities, find and implement cost reduction solutions across the entire terminal network.

Lead various reliability projects and develop new methods for preventative diagnosis of operational failures focusing on overall equipment effectiveness.

Create and monitor plans for proactive maintenance procedures and asset lifecycle management.


Develop and review preventive maintenance programs and schedules for all equipment and coordinate/plan schedules for internal repairs and repairs performed by subcontractors.


Carry out periodic inspections of recently serviced equipment in order to observe the quality of the maintenance carried out and the operating condition of the equipment.

Establish a robust parts inventory system and regularly check and inspect the availability of parts and tools. Place orders if necessary.


Additional Responsibilities:


Work collaboratively with regional and unit managers as well as other maintenance supervisors to ensure the strategic procurement of supplies, parts, services and equipment.

Work on the standardization, formatting and development of the content of the computer-assisted maintenance management system.


Support the implementation of the maintenance system - asset lifecycle management program for terminals through commissioning and transition of operations.

Contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive work environment by encouraging and motivating employees.

Work in collaboration with the Maintenance Manager to provide and/or ensure effective training and development of the technical team.


Experience:

Experience as a supervisor or manager in managing 4 to 6 skilled workers;
Relevant professional experience of more than three (3) years in a reliability-oriented industrial environment or in a 24/7 package sorting environment;
Knowledge of computer-assisted maintenance management tools (CMMS);
General knowledge of health and safety (Quebec CNESST, ESA, CSA, ULC, etc.);
Practical experience and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills;
Excellent time management and organizational skills;
Excellent communication, customer service and leadership skills;
Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, afternoons or nights depending on operational needs;
Experience managing or supervising staff in a unionized environment;
Knowledge of computer drawing tools (CAD);
Mastery of some of the following: PHA - Preliminary Hazard Analysis, FMEA - Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, CA - Criticality Analysis, SFMEA - Simplified Failure Mode and Effect Analysis, MI -Information on maintainability, FTA - Fault Tree Analysis, ETA - Event Tree Analysis, data analysis techniques including statistical process control, reliability modeling and prediction, analysis fault tree, Weibull tree analysis or Six Sigma methodologies;
Bilingualism in French and English.


Education:

Diploma or other equivalent qualification in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Manufacturing or
equivalent)
