Desired Qualifications

Paralegal certificate or a minimum of 5 years of experience, with 3 years experience in insurance
ICBC billing number, or be able to qualify for one
Knowledge of BC Supreme Court Rules, Court practices and procedures
PC skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite

Bonus:
experience with the Worldox Document Management and/or a modern practice management platform like Clio

A desire to continuously improve and challenge the status quo

Primary Responsibilities

Reviewing file intake materials
Drafting various court documents such as Responses to Civil Claim, Third Party Notices, Notices of Application, Affidavits, and Lists of Documents
Reviewing and summarizing clinical records, identifying issues, preparing chronologies and initial drafting of mediation summaries
Performing legal research and obtaining background information
Reviewing all incoming correspondence and drafting responses
Directing Legal Administrative Assistants in the performance of nonbillable work
Meeting with lawyers on a regular basis to discuss strategy and receive instructions
Maintaining file organization

The primary focus of this role pertains to ICBC defense files. However, in future years, there exists a prospect for a broader range of work diversification.

This position would be well-suited for an individual presently engaged in ICBC defense work, but who aspires to broaden their scope of expertise over time.
