Key Ways This Position Makes An Impact
The Manager, Finance (Operations) is responsible for accounts payable, commissions, collections and recovery functions, along with overseeing general finance queries from the business.
This role also has oversight over all Federal and Provincial indirect tax functions, including the review of indirect tax compliance, completion of statutory information returns, and self-assessment of applicable taxes.
You will partner with the Director and other members of the Finance leadership team, to create departmental plans to deliver on corporate objectives, establish individual employee objectives, and communicate organizational and department goals and expectations to the team.
You will research, recommend, and implement technologies, process improvements, and best practices in your area of responsibility, improving the overall effectiveness and efficiency of department.
You will partner with internal and external stakeholders across the organization to deliver on shared projects and initiatives.This role has a keen interest in leading and developing people.
You will provide leadership to a team of 19, which includes mentoring and coaching, performance management, and maintaining staffing levels.
Key Experiences You Bring To This Role
- Minimum 7 years' experience as a finance professional
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership role
- Accounting designation required (Certified Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation, or equivalent)
- Strong working knowledge of GST and PST, and required government filings
- Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office software, including Outlook, Intermediate Word, Intermediate Excel and Basic PowerPoint
- Experience with Workday would be considered an asset
- Experience working and managing in a unionized environment would be considered an asset
