Position Overview:


Under the general supervision of the Clinical Manager, or designate, the Clerical Partner/Unit Clerk functions as a member of the health care team, performing clerical, receptionist, and related duties as directed in support of patient/resident centred care.

The Clerical Partner/Unit Clerk demonstrates a commitment to the values, vision, goals, and objectives of the Region/facility/unit.


Experience:


  • Previous experience providing clerical services in a health care setting would be an asset.

Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):


  • Grade 12 graduate, Manitoba Standards.
  • Graduate of an approved Unit Clerk training program.

Certification/Licensure/Registration:

Not Applicable


Qualifications and Skills:


  • Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Regional, site and unit policies and procedures.
  • Roles and responsibilities of members of the health care team.
  • Knowledge of relevant Workplace Safety and Health responsibilities.
  • General administrative and clerical skills and abilities required to perform all tasks and responsibilities relevant to the duties of the position.
  • Ability to type accurately at 25 wpm.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to recognize and pursue selfdevelopment opportunities.
  • Ability to respond to a variety of simultaneous demands and deal with interruptions.
  • Ability to operate information technology equipment as required, e.g. fax, photocopier, computer, etc.
  • Ability to relate to others in a tactful, courteous and supportive manner.
  • Ability to function as a team member and seek assistance as necessary.
  • Ability to express ideas and thoughts in English both verbally and in written format.
  • Ability to select appropriate communication methods pertinent to the situation.

The WRHA legal entity includes Churchill Health Centre, Deer Lodge Centre, Grace Hospital, Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg, Pan Am Clinic, River Park Gardens, Victoria General Hospital, WRHA corporate programs, and WRHA community health services.

Effective April 1, 2024, Golden West Centennial Lodge will also be part of the WRHA legal entity.
