How will you contribute?


The Materiel Logistics Officer is accountable for the day-to-day operational data of warehouse operations involving shipping and receiving and furniture restoration services.

The position monitors the life cycle function of Materiel Management in the warehouse shipping and receiving areas and the furniture restoration services, by ensuring the safe receipt, storage, custody, warehousing, shipping, stock recording, replenishment and location of Senate operational and heritage assets as well as uniforms.

Prerequisites

  • Experience in the handling, moving, protection, storage and transportation of furniture.
  • Experience in client service delivery methods and techniques to provide a highquality frontline service.
  • Detail oriented, well organized, and able to coordinate and multitask competing priorities and timelines;
  • Experience in preparing summary reports and identifying solutions in support of operational requirements;
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.);
  • Experience in the full life cycle process related to materiel management activities such as inventory, compliance and disposal is considered an asset;
  • Experience in inventory administration material management processes and procedures to ensure oversight of stock levels for all material assets within the Distribution Centre is considered an asset;

Conditions of Employment

Physical Effort
The position requires bending, reaching, lifting and standing for extended periods of time related to physical inventory tasks. Applicants must meet the physical requirements of the position to be considered qualified. The nature of the work is physically demanding.

It requires climbing stools and ladders and ending to check inventory in storage and move items in and out of storage.

When stocking shelves and loading and unloading trucks, items of up to 35kg must be lifted. The work also requires operating self-propelled materiel handling equipment such as forklifts.

Sensory Attention


There is a required for sensory attention when ensuring accuracy when entering data in the databases and the need to react quickly to signals when operating materiel handling equipment, while moving heavy and bulky loads or while loading and unloading trucks, as well as to respond to verbal warnings to prevent injury and accidents.
