Specific Responsibilities of the Position:


  • Departing Flights: As assigned by dispatch, assists and transports departing passengers requiring wheelchair assistance from collection point via security and (USA customs as required) to their assigned gate. When notified by the airline agent to board, transport as required the passengers to their assigned seat.
  • Arriving Flights: As assigned by dispatch, assists and transports arriving passengers requiring wheelchair assistance from their assigned aircraft seat (if necessary) to the arrival hall (via Canada customs as required)
  • Assists special needs passengers to collect their baggage and transport to the meet and greet lobby area
  • Read appropriate passenger documentation to identify passenger, specific flight information, verify airport monitor to determine correct gate assignment
  • Safely lifts special needs passengers up/down stairs, seats of aircraft and in /out of wheelchairs
  • Assists special needs passengers and unaccompanied minors in transporting and claiming personal belongings and baggage
  • Greets passengers in a friendly and courteous manner
  • Communicates and or receives instructions to/from airline gate agent for passengers with special needs
  • Gather wheelchairs not in use and returns them to the wheelchair staging area
  • Provide end of shift report to Dispatch and or the onduty Supervisor
  • Promote and enforce good housekeeping practices in the workplace
  • Ensure wheelchairs and operating equipment are always in working order
  • Ensure all security requirements are followed and enforced and all security and safety checks are completed
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:


  • Able to work flexible schedules
  • Have a high school completed diploma or greater
  • Able to work beyond assigned shift schedule as required
  • Possess excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to push wheelchairs up/down grades of 6 degrees
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and push a wheelchair with a weight of 250lbs
  • Must pass a Transport Canada Security background check
  • Must be legally able to work in Canada

Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time, Permanent


Pay:
From $17.30 per hour


Expected hours:
No less than 20 per week
