Brun-Way Highways Operations Inc. is a branch within SNC-Lavalin Group Inc.

responsible for 275 kilometers of the Trans-Canada Highway, from the Quebec border to Longs Creek (West of Fredericton) and Route 95 between Woodstock and the Houlton Border, until the year 2033.

We are seeking a full-time
Highway Maintenance Operator to join our team at Brun-Way.

This position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment and performing manual labor required to maintain the highway and right-of-way assets to ensure conformance of the designated section of the highway with required Operation, Maintenance, and Rehabilitation (OMR) standards and contractual requirements.

This role will be based in
St-Leonard, NB.

Your role within the team:


  • Operate highway vehicles, equipment and tools including but not limited to snowplow trucks, dump body trucks, loaders, Skid Steer loaders, tractors, light vehicles, etc. required to maintain and repair the highway surfaces and other assets in a safe condition according to OMR standards and contractual requirements.
  • Perform general maintenance activities of vehicles and equipment, such as pretrip inspections activities, greasing and washing.
  • Perform general manual labour required to maintain and repair the highway and related corridor assets (including, but not limited to, traffic control, grass cutting, drainage facilities, signs, asphalt and concrete patching and other assets, spring debris cleanup, litter removal, etc.).
  • Perform planned and emergency traffic control signing and services, and assist in accident response and site cleanup, in compliance with the Work Area Traffic Control Manual and safety standards.
  • Prepare daily work records of activities, including equipment operating times and vehicle performance.
  • Assist the Mechanics in routine vehicle and equipment maintenance and repairs, as needed.
  • Assist in yard maintenance and general good housekeeping cleanup practices.
  • Assist with the annual detailed inspections for the highway asset management system.
  • Required to work scheduled rotating shifts during Winter Operations.
  • Required to be on rotating oncall schedule during Summer Operations for afterhour incident response.
  • Flexible to work at different locations along the Facility (from Long's Creek to Quebec Border).

  • General knowledge of highway operations and working experience with various types of vehicles and equipment used in road maintenance activities is preferred.
  • Valid Class 1 or Class 3 driver license with commercial vehicle endorsement (with air brake) is required.
  • Clean driving record is required.
  • Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and compliance with defined standards.
  • Good personal documentation and problem solving.
  • Capable of lifting heavy objects on occasion.
  • Demonstrate good working knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a calm, patient, and professional manner.
