Youth Outreach Worker - INSA (2 Vacant Positions)

Contract, Full-time, 35 hours/week

ASAP to end of March 2024

Bargaining Unit Position
This position carries responsibility for prevention, early intervention, program development and outreach services to youth and families.

This position is responsible for creating an intervention plan with youth and their families to avoid youth admission into the care of the Children's Aid Society of Toronto.

Reaching out to marginalized youth and providing information and referral to a range of community supports and services. This position is responsible for providing brokerage and advocacy and entails working collaboratively with youth, parents and community service providers

  • Children's Aid Society in particular.

Highlights of Your Role

  • Connects with the youth and family within 72 hours of the case consult with CAS. Provides timely oneonone support, advocacy and referrals. Informs youth about community events such as job fairs, recreation programs and employment opportunities. Works collaboratively with school personnel to address issues of anger management, life skills, absenteeism and academic performance. Prepares for workshops and activities. Collects information relevant to the needs of individual youth and works collaboratively with local service providers to ensure youth have access to programs. Responds to requests and inquiries from community groups. Works with parents and guardians to avoid family breakdown. Creates an intervention plan to create a positive home environment
  • Reaches out and establishes relationships with CAST workers. Attend meetings, consultations and family group conferences. Provide updates and plans to child welfare.
  • Maintains statistics and case notes including service delivery, referrals and follow up.
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with local community groups through regular attendance at community meetings.
  • Participates in training to ensure service delivery is relevant and current.
  • Actively contributes to the Agency's Strategic Plan by participating in initiatives and committees to support the overall Plan.
  • Takes all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect his or her own health and safety and that of coworkers by complying and demonstrating knowledge of the policies, procedures and safe practices established by YouthLink.
  • Other duties as required

Highlights of What You Bring

Education:


  • Undergraduate Degree in Social Work, Psychology or Degree / Diploma in Child & Youth Worker.
  • Specialized training in CPI and CPR an asset.

Experience:


  • Two (2) years' experience working with youth engagement, community and program development and working successfully with community partners.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in working with marginalized youth, their families, newcomers and diverse youth populations living in underserved communities.

Skills:


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Operates using and ABR/AOP lens

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Proof of full vaccination for COVID19 is required.

Compensation:
- $48,645 - $55109


Work hours and Work Conditions:

  • 35 hours per week
  • This position requires evening and occasional weekend hours
  • There are some risks involved in this position such as crisis management. Minimal travelling required
  • To some extent, this position requires walking within the community.
