Your Opportunity:


Reporting to the Endoscopy Manager a unit clerk will be responsible for performing clerical and reception duties for the unit.

These will include performing admission, discharge and transfer functions, answering telephone calls, monitoring of the unit and patient access to the department.

As the key point of first contact for the Endoscopy department, you will play a key role in fostering an effective team environment on the unit as well as fostering a professional and respectful entrance to the public.

You will be instrumental in facilitating communication between nursing and other health disciplines, departments, patients, and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.

You will be an essential team member when unit emergencies occur. You will be a major asset to the smooth and efficient operation of the unit.


Description:

As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information.

You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments.

You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program.
