    The position is classified as an RÉ-06 ($83,979 to $113,423 per annum rates - salary under review.

    JOB OVERVIEW

    Reporting to the Chief, Environment and Civil Engineering, you will implement and supervise processes that protect the environment; to reduce contamination, control pollution, and optimize resource usage. You will lead environmental studies, reviews, identify contaminant sources, manage sites assessments, carry out technical audits, make waste-management recommendations, and design technical solutions to reduce the negative environmental impact of NCC projects. You will provide subject matter expertise to NCC project and design teams and other internal and external stakeholders.

    ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION

    A degree from a recognized university with a specialization in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental or Earth Sciences or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

    LICENCE

    Must be registered as a professional engineer or professional geoscientist with a Canadian engineering or geoscience regulator.

    EXPERIENCE

    A minimum of eight (8) years holding progressively significant responsibilities in the Environmental field and in the following areas;


    • Preparing environmental studies and mitigation strategies for construction projects.


    • Performing quality assurance or compliance reviews for on-site work.

    KNOWLEDGE


    • of relevant environmental regulatory and legislative requirements.

    ABILITIES


    • To manage contracts and oversee the work of external consultants and contractors.


    • To conduct environmental studies, assessments, collect samples, and write reports.


    • To negotiate and resolve disputes.


    • To communicate effectively orally and in writing and deliver effective presentations.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/ OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS


    • A valid Ontario unrestricted G class driver's license (or provincial equivalent).


    • Regular visits to construction sites and soil management facility to review and inspect work.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT


    • Possess or eligible to obtain Secret security clearance.


    • Linguistic profile: Bilingual BBB.


    • Position is in the National Capital Region. The person selected for this position must reside within a commutable distance from the workplace at 40 Elgin Street, Ottawa, Ontario.


    • The National Capital Commission offers a hybrid and flexible work environment, all employees are currently asked to work on-site at least two (2) days per week.
