Position Information


Reporting to the Production Control Department, the Ordering Specialist is responsible for maintaining raw material inventory targets and issue orders and forecasts to suppliers to ensure production requirements can be met in a fast past JIT environment.


Position Resposibilities Include:


  • Maintain accurate inventory levels to ensure production requirements can be met
  • Monitor customer requirements and forecasts (EDI)
  • Order and Forecast to suppliers based on customer demands
  • Issue Purchase Orders to suppliers and be in direct contact with suppliers and ACI for all part related issues requiring replacements
  • Coordinate with logistics of incoming materials (FLC, local, direct)
  • Document supplier performance and report issues to management & work with suppliers to resolve issues
  • Current Mass Production and new model part management (Bill of Materials "BOM", Oracle, ordering, etc)
  • Conduct inventory cycle counts, report discrepancies, and reconcile inventory management systems, including physical inventory days
  • Monitor, control & adjust Kanban quantity, based on volume or ratio variance to ensure good Kanban flow system
  • Support in maintenance of warehouse component rack / rollers locations and labels are in place & up to date

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in a materials position
  • Experience in an automotive JIT production setting.
  • Strong knowledge of internet based procurement and practices.
  • Exceptional communication skills in dealing with suppliers to ensure desired outcome is met.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Outlook)
  • Previous experience with a Kanban system considered an asset.
  • College diploma in Materials Management or related discpline preferred.
