The Research Assistant will provide non-technical assistance, organization and administrative support to research projects, clinical research studies and investigator initiated or industry sponsored trials.

The Research Assistant will work collaboratively as a member of the interdisciplinary team and research department team to support the day-to-day activities of clinical research appropriate to the Research Assistant's skills and experience.

Under clear direction, and guidance, typical duties may include: collecting, recording and entering data into databases, screening study participants, assisting with consent and recruitment of study participants, performing interviews with study patients, performing literature searches, scheduling appointments for research studies, performing general office duties, assisting with tracking budgets and expenditures and other duties as needed and determined appropriate to the Research Assistant's skills and experience.

The Research Assistant will interact with many departments and stakeholders throughout the hospital including research team members, study participants, clinicians and the interdisciplinary team.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduate of college or postsecondary institution or relevant research experience.
  • Experience in research, with knowledge of research procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge of medical and scientific terminology an asset.
  • Experience in health care environment an asset.
  • Completion of research training including TCPS 2, Division 5 Training and Good Clinical Practices.
  • Enthusiasm for advancing healthcare research.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to new situations.
  • Proven ability of ensuring confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle a large and diversified workload often with rapidly changing priorities and challenging deadlines.
  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written communication, proofreading and editing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Superior organizational and problem solving skills.
  • Flexible, selfdirected and able to prioritize and work effectively and independently.
  • Consistent and regular attendance required, with a flexible schedule an asset.
Proficiency in REDCap an asset.

  • Vaccines (COVID19 and others) are a new hire requirement of the job unless you have an exemption based on medical or on a ground pursuant to the Ontario Human Rights Code
Based on performance metrics, this position has the opportunity to be extended.
