What is Cops for Cancer?

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

Executes Cops for Cancer strategies and activities for CCS and is responsible for achieving assigned tour revenue and expense targets.

  • Works directly with Tour Steering Committee to effectively implement and execute assigned Cops for Cancer event(s) of 7 days to meet or exceed revenue targets of $200,000 or more.
  • Displays exceptional coordination, implementation and execution of all logístical and administrative tasks.
  • Acts as the relationship manager for assigned Cops for Cancer stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Cops for Cancer development plan.
  • Actively responds and takes initiative on fundraising opportunities with volunteer organizing committees, sponsors, participants and donors ensuring appropriate cultivation.
  • Identifies creative and innovative opportunities in the development or enhancement of existing Cops for Cancer planning initiatives, strategies and revenue development.
  • Participates in team initiatives to revise or enhance existing Cops for Cancer strategies or to implement new activities and to conduct regular evaluations of tour activities.
  • Uses data to drive decisions and always act within the best interest of the Canadian Cancer Society and those we serve.
  • Takes a donor centric approach to all fundraising activities and consistently delivers effective stewardship and engagement practices.
  • Represents CCS at Cops for Cancer events and on assigned tour(s).

Supports Cops for Cancer Specialist(s) with planning and execution of Cops for Cancer program as assigned:

  • Supports Specialists with account management tasks including participant onboarding, coaching and stewarding as well as external customer service support.
  • Responsible for maintaining event logistics documents such as critical paths and budgets for Cops for Cancer tour(s) as assigned.
  • Supports in effectively implementing and executing Cops for Cancer event(s) of 9+ days to meet or exceed revenue targets.

New Business Development

  • Actively solicits and secures new tour sponsors, schools and community events for assigned tour(s) in support of the Canadian Cancer Society.
  • Proactively identifies partnership opportunities to increase revenue within portfolio and beyond.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Postsecondary education such as acquiring a college diploma, as well as specialized technical/professional training and/or certification, or equivalent.
  • More than 6 months, up to 1 year of relevant experience required.
  • Exceptional project management and event management skills.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and proven interpersonal skills, including presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Negotiation, problemsolving and diplomacy skills to resolve issues with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to accomplish goals, meet deadlines and establish priorities with mínimal direction.
  • Ability to work confidently under pressure to adhere to deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to pay attention to details are necessary attributes.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule that will allow evening and weekend work.
  • Flexibility to perform other job requirements as assigned.
  • Ability to travel within Canada i.e. a valid Driver's License.
  • Knowledge and understanding of special event fundraising as a component of an overall community giving program an asset.
  • Working knowledge of Salesforce is considered an asset.
  • Experience delivering multiday road cycling events is an asset.
