Position Summary


As a key member of the Procurement Management Office, the Buyer role will support and lead all purchasing activities of goods and services for the University Health Network (UHN).

This role has a strong working relationship with all department key stakeholders requiring exceptional customer service skills.

  • This is a Hybrid role and we are looking for 3 Buyers. _

Duties

  • Review, verify and perform order entry of requisitions received from clients and generate subsequent purchase orders for goods and services in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with UHN's Procurement Policy and Procedures.
  • Educate clients and suppliers concerning relevant purchasing policies and procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with procurement team to maintain adequate departmental coverage and ensure service level commitments are met.
  • Assist End Users with inquiries locating items or vendors within the system or existing contracts. ?
  • Request quotations from vendors when necessary and perform analysis to prepare recommendations. ?
  • Gathers and analyzes supplier data and information to determine viability of new suppliers. ?
  • Resolve problems (i.e. backorders, ETA's, pricing discrepancies, unit of measure etc.), expedite orders and coordinate repairs and returns. ?
  • Review and resolve any discrepancies (e.g 3way match exceptions), while liaising with clients, Accounts Payable, Receiving, and Suppliers on a weekly basis.
  • Participate in completing various reports and maintaining purchasing related databases.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Buyer role required.
  • Recent Public Purchasing experience in Healthcare environment is an asset.
  • Undergraduate Degree in a relevant field (e.g. business administration, supply chain) or equivalent work experience
  • Professional designation or certification through the Ontario Public Buyer Association (OPBA), Certified Supply Chain Management Professional (CSCMP), Materials Management, APICS (CPIM, CSCP) or working toward is an asset.
  • Familiarity in the use of SAP, SAP S/4HANA, SAP Ariba, Bonfire's Procurement Software and/or other tendering systems is an asset.
  • Knowledge of BPS directives, CETA, CFTA and other trade agreements is an asset.
  • Advanced skill level with MS Office, (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong analytical abilities and mathematical aptitude.
  • Solid experience working within a defined buying process/methodology.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills to effectively liaise with stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to providing a high level of customer service, with an acute understanding of the client and their needs; utilizes sound judgment and decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize, control and coordinate a variety of activities in a fastpaced, everchanging environment with competing priorities performing time sensitive tasks.
  • Ability to perform in a manner that is consistent with the mission, vision and values of the hospital.
