Who We Are

Planning for the development of all three SFU campuses (Burnaby, Surrey and Vancouver) has taken on a growing importance for the University as growth and needs change in all locations and available space becomes more difficult to source.

The Campus Planning & Development team is constantly involved in a variety of projects and planning processes to ensure that the University makes the best use of limited land resources and that new building development and expansion fits within an overall plan.

The Planning Services department is responsible for campus planning, routine capital plan submissions, way-finding and signage standards, EDI initiatives, promoting barrier free design, owners technical guidelines, mobility improvements and overall campus planning initiatives.

About the Role

The Manager, Planning Services provides leadership for the Planning Services Division and is responsible for the university space inventory, facility as-built records, capital asset management, campus mapping and way-finding, and represents Facilities Services on the Sustainability Committee.

The incumbent manages a full-time planning staff, plus temporary consultants.

The incumbent consults with Facilities Services staff, and other stakeholders to ensure that the planning of buildings and civil infrastructure serves the University's long term needs.

The incumbent liaises with various levels of government, agencies, professional bodies, and external contractors to represent the University.
