Network Specialist
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with customers' IT staff in identifying systems network requirements to support equipment and process automation/digitalization (LTE and WiFi)
- Act as a consultant to customers working together with Project Engineers to assist with automation/digitalization implementation road maps for customers
- Install and commission automation/digitalization software and hardware on customer networks
- Technical (Software) interface internally, product company (Sweden and Texas) and customer center (Canada) as well as externally (customers)
- When required by end customers and sold by the business, select the appropriate network provider and manage the contractor installs
- Support the installation and commissioning of automation software and hardware on customers' networks
- Keep abreast of the latest trends in network technologies
- Lab implementation and future updates in Control Tower at Sudbury office for our network technologies
EXPERIENCE:
- 35 years of experience of embedded software development in C++ and object orientated design; Prior experience in control systems, multithreaded programming, robotics and communications protocols is desirable
KNOWLEDGE/EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's Degree or Technologist Diploma of Engineering oriented on Telecommunications, Mechatronics, Automation, or Computer Science
- Wi-Fi, LAN, and LTE configuration experience
- Linux knowledge/experience
- Experience developing documentation and diagrams
- AutoCAD and office pack
- Knowledge on protocols of communication (ProfiBus, Profinet, CAN, etc.) will be considered an asset
- Project management experience will be considered an asset
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Good communication skills internally and externally and willingness to develop strong relations with the development center in Sweden and Texas
- Project leader skills
- Troubleshooting skills
- WiFi/LTE spectrum analysis
- Writing skills for documentation development
- Ability to use network tools for troubleshooting
- Problemsolver attitude
- Excellent communication for meetings conduction
- Excellent writing for documentation development
- Ability to represent Epiroc in a professional and ethical manner following our core values
