Our client, an innovative company in the field of communications and marketing, is currently seeking a Controller to join their team located downtown Montreal.

Reporting to the Vice-President, the controller will be responsible for managing the Company's finances for the complete cycle of programs according to Master Service Agreements (MSAs), client contracts, and financial phasing terms.

This person will also be responsible for:


  • Guiding financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Managing the invoice phases and conducting final reconciliation with appropriate documentation and in keeping with the project schedule via a tracking in a spreadsheet.
  • Preparing budgets by establishing schedules; collecting, analyzing, and consolidating financial data; recommending plans.
  • Achieving budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions. Reviewing, discussing, and followingup with Project Managers (PMs)/Account Directors (ADs).
  • Complying with Federal, Provincial, and GST/QST requirements by studying existing and new guidelines; anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.

What the individual needs to succeed in this role:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and proven experience as a Controller or equivalent position
  • Proficiency with federal and provincial tax codes for Quebec, Canada
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks
  • Excellent management of payroll (Ceridian) to oversee this responsibility
  • Excellent organizational abilities & customer service skills
  • Familiarity with MS Office (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work well under pressure and in a fastpaced environment
  • Bilingual English & French, considered an asset
  • CPA Designation, considered an asset
