Summer Métis Family Resource Assistant

Location:
Métis Nation of Alberta Provincial Head Office, Edmonton AB


Position Status:
Full Time (40 hrs per week), Summer Student (May-August)


The Organization

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities

  • Research and provide support in resource finding for families and caregivers within the Métis Family Resource Program (MFRP).
  • Assist in the development of presentations and forms regularly used by the MFRP.
  • Participate and represent the MNA in community engagements and other opportunities.
  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization when interacting with employees, citizens, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
  • Assist with administration of MNA Provincial events & programs.
  • Other duties as required or assigned.

  • Ability to work with and convey messages to different audiences.
  • Ability to produce professional reports, documents, and presentations.
  • Political and cultural sensitivity.
  • Compassionate, empathetic, and trustworthy.
  • Knowledge of Métis history, culture, and issues affecting Métis people. An indepth understanding of the MNA and Métis culture is an asset.

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary education in Human/Social Service or a related field is preferred. Other relevant training and experience will be considered.
  • Experience working in the Human Services field is an asset. School or volunteer experience is valid experience.
  • Indigenous Awareness Training is an asset.

Other Requirements

  • Availability to work Monday to Friday 8:30 am 4:30 pm.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends, with notice.
  • Ability to travel throughout Alberta is a requirement.
  • Reliable transportation and valid Class 5 driver's license.
  • Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child Intervention Check.
